Alexandra Cousteau and her Expedition Blue Planet team “roll in” to CPCC on Sept. 9
This event seeks to engage and educate the public on water crises
occurring on the local and global levels.
Catawba Riverkeeper
Foundation is pleased to partner with Center for Sustainability at Central Piedmont Community
College (CPCC) to bring Alexandra Cousteau and her International Expedition
Blue Planet Team to the Queen City for a special watershed action day event.
Ms. Cousteau and her film team will visit Charlotte as part of their
cross-continent film and social media project with nationalgeographic.com. The
team began its 138-day expedition across North America in June and is busy
exploring critical water issues in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. in a custom-made
biodiesel production bus.
Throughout
their journey Ms. Cousteau and her team will utilize satellite technology and
live social media to bring the wonders of nature to audiences across the globe.
The tour is being conducted in honor of her grandfather Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s
100th birthday and seeks to engage and educate the public on water crises
occurring across the continent.
Two
separate events will
give local residents, students and environmental enthusiasts the opportunity to
meet Ms. Cousteau and her team and learn more about the world’s water use and
water systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in
various multimedia activities and visit information tables featuring local
environmental organizations.

visit information tables and more.

Special presentation by Alexandra Cousteau on “Water in a Carbon
Culture”
