Discharge Permit Hearing: Wateree Coal Plant
DHEC will hold a public hearing to receive comments regarding SCE&G's request to continue discharging water from its coal-fired plant into the Wateree River in Eastover, SC.

The proposed modifications are as follows:
1. Part V.E.5 has been changed to allow construction storm water to be discharged through the existing permitted outfall without additional NPDES permit coverage.
2. Limits on arsenic have been removed. Arsenic limits in Part III.A.2 have been replaced with monitor and report. The sampling frequency has been changed to 1/quarter. The schedule of compliance for arsenic limits has been removed.
3. Monitoring for iron and manganese (upstream and effluent) has been removed from Part III.A.2.
4. Text has been added to Part V.E.3 to allow an alternate sampling day for acute and chronic whole effluent toxicity.
5. The description of the sources discharging to Outfall 03A listed on page 20 has been revised to include "landfill runoff/leachate." This was inadvertently omitted from the previous permit on this page.
