The Covekeepers will meet on August 8th at 7:00 p.m. at T-Bone's in Lake Wylie. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The meeting on August 8th will feature guest speaker Dr. Scott Werts, Assistant Professor of Geology at Winthrop University, who will speak about our region's hydrology and the effects of drought and recovery on Lake Wylie and the Catawba basin.
Dr. Werts received a doctorate in geology from Johns Hopkins University and worked as a hydrogeologist at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before coming to Winthrop. His course instruction there includes physical geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry and soils.
This meeting is open to anybody interested in becoming more involved with the work of the Catawba Riverkeeper as well as our members who have completed the Covekeeper and other water protection trainings.
