Catawba Riverkeeper David Merryman, CRF Executive Director Rick Gaskins, Legal Intern Mike Simmons and other volunteers traveled to Raleigh on June 23 to meet with legislators about proposed legislation that has the potential to help or hurt our water.

2009 Clean Water Lobby Day

This event was organized by the NC Watershed Alliance and there were citizens from all over the state meeting with their legislators about water issues on June 23. Clean Water Lobby Day is your opportunity to join with other watershed protection organizations and concerned citizens from across the state to speak up to protect and conserve our water resources. Clean Water Lobby Day gives us all the opportunity to educate our legislators about the need for strong water protections.

This is a fun and educational event, so make sure to bring your friends and family NEXT YEAR.  No prior knowledge about North Carolina legislation is required.  The N.C. Watershed Alliance will provide a briefing on pending legislation and Catawba Riverkeeper David Merryman will be available to answer questions about the impact of proposed legislation on the Catawba basin. Don't let you fears keep you from coming next year- keep up to date with what's happening with legislation discussed at 2010 Clean Water Lobby Day on our website.
