Spider Lily Eco-Tour
Paddle through the Largest colony of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies in the World with the Catawba Riverkeeper. Bring a boat and join us on the water! The tour will be led by the Catawba Riverkeeper and there will be a brief stop in the middle of the spider lilies to have a picnic (bring your own snack) and have a short presentation about the ecology of the spider lilies.

The Spider Lily Eco-Tour travels along Landsford Canal and allows participants to see and experience the magnificence of the endangered Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies that make their home in the middle of the Catawa River. The rare flowers enter peak blooming period for only one month (generally, early May to early June). So, please join your Catawba Riverkeeper for an experience of a lifetime!
The date of the Spider Lily Eco-Tour is May 25, 2013. This event is FREE to Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation members. There is a suggeted donation of $25 per person for non-members. So, "Bring-your-own-Canoe/Kayak," personal flotation device, a snack, water, camera and sunscreen and meet us at Landsford Canal State Park (directions and map below).

Don't Have a Kayak- That's Okay- YOU CAN RENT ONE!
If you do not have a canoe or kayak and would like to join us do not fear, our friends at Catawba River Expeditions are providing kayaks, gear and a van shuttle from the takeout at a discounted rate for this trip ($30/trip). Boats are limited, so call today to reserve your spot on this fabulous, guided experience!

Directions from I-77 Southbound: Take Exit 77 to Highways 5 and 21. Turn left (south), go 16 miles to the Landsford Canal State Park sign, and turn left. The park entrance is on the left.
Directions from I-77 Northbound: Take Exit 65 to Highway 9. Turn right and go 2 miles to Hwy 223. Turn left on Hwy 223 and go 9 miles to Highway 21. At Highway 21, turn left and go 2 miles to the State Park sign. Turn right and the park entrance will be on the left.
