Duke plans to begin recreational flow releases from dams the last full weekend in April.

The Catawba-Wateree River basin has improved to a Low Inflow Protocol Stage 1 condition.  Thus, recreation flows will begin based on the following schedule:

  • Duke Energy will begin recreation flow releases at the Bridgewater, Wylie and Wateree Hydroelectric Stations the last full weekend in April
  • Duke will begin releases from the Oxford Hydroelectric Station the first weekend in May.

Tell your Riverkeeper if you see:

  • Sewage Overflows
  • Failure to control sediment from construction sites
  • Illegal clearing of buffer areas
  • Fish kills 
  • Invasive aquatic species
  • Exceeding Pollution Limits
  • Discharges exceeding allowable limits
  • Unpermitted discharges
  • Other issues that concern you
