Wilson Creek Gorge Paddling Information

Wilson Creek Gorge is a spectacular gorge with super challenging whitewater. Whether you want to go watch the paddlers, or try it yourself (experienced kayakers only), it is worth the visit. The upper part of Wilson Creek also has a wonderful network of trails and campsites for hiking and backpacking.

North Carolina South Carolina have advise against consuming certain types of fish in the Catawba due to mercury contamination. Most of the mercury is coming from coal-fired powerplants.

Fish Advisories

  • Sewage Overflows
  • Failure to control sediment from construction sites
  • Illegal clearing of buffer areas
  • Fish kills 
  • Invasive aquatic species
  • Exceeding Pollution Limits
  • Discharges exceeding allowable limits
  • Unpermitted discharges
  • Other issues that concern you
