Comments on Proposed Mine Draining to Lake Wateree
Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation comments on the water monitoring plan (or lack thereof) for a granite quarry application.
This is something that was brought to my attention this week, so I apologize for the short notice, but a woefully inadequate mine application has been made in an area that drains to Lake Wateree. It is in dire need of both surface and ground water monitoring provisions.
I have drafted comments and encourage you to do the same. Feel free to pull from what I wrote to craft your own comments, and please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5:00 PM tomorrow (Thursday, 12/4).
A copy of the comments can be accessed by clicking Catawba Riverkeeper Comments Winnsboro Granite Mine.
The primary documents and the public notice can be accessed at http://www.scdhec.gov/Apps/Environment/PublicNotices/SearchAndDisplay/Display/459.
And of course, let me know if you have any questions!
