Global Warming and the Catawba Basin
Global warming poses a threat to the Catawba-Wateree River basin and some of the coal-fired powerplants in the basin are significant contributors to global warming. While predictions about the impact of global warming on the Catawba-Wateree basin vary, most predictions agree that global warming could upset the current ecological balance in the basin and increase periods of drought or flooding.
