Youth Kayaking River Guide
Catawba Riverkeeper is looking for somebody who wants to share their passion for protecting the environment and love of rivers with youth. The River Guide will help lead paddling trips for youth on the Catawba River. The position is a part-time position for 12 weeks during the summer.
Job Description
The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation operates a Youth Kayaking River Expedition Program for 12 weeks from June to August. This program is intended to bring youth into direct contact with the Catawba River, educate them about the ecology of the River, foster a love of the River and encourage them to protect the River. The Youth Kayaking River Guide will assist the person running the Program in organizing events, loading and unloading equipment, transporting equipment to the River, educating youth about the River, and helping the youth have a safe and enjoyable experience on the water. Most of the on-the-water activities are held on lakes or on slow-moving sections of the River.
Job Requirements
- Water Safety training (preferably American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or better)
- Valid drivers license
- Flatwater paddling experience
- Experience working with youth
