From Lake Wylie dam to the Hwy. 9 bridge in South Carolina, the Catawba River is designated a South Carolina Scenic River. This is the longest remaining section of the Catawba River to be dam-free. It is also home to the largest colony of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies in the world.
