Insects are an extremely important part of our natural environment, but this widespread and diverse group of organisms often go unnoticed and unappreciated by most. This field trip will allow participants to get an up-close look at some incredible insects found in both daylight and darkness. Nets, jars, sheets and specialized lights will bring this unseen world into view and provide a chance to build a greater knowledge and understanding of the natural world around us. All are welcome!
Venue: Cowan’s Ford Wildlife Refuge, Neck Road, Huntersville, NC 28078
Date/Time: April 26, 2018; 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Parking: On the side of the gravel entrance road
Dress: Sturdy shoes and long pants are recommended for walking through the fields
Other recommendations (optional): Bug repellent as needed and a small flashlight
