Lake Hickory Riversweep Continues to Make an Impact

Last Saturday a group of 19 volunteers spent the morning cleaning up Lake Hickory. The group brought boats, kayaks, and most importantly friends and family! From two launch sites on opposite sides of the lake, volunteers collected a total of 650 pounds of trash.

Among the many miscellaneous items collected like a water heater and an Adirondack chair, volunteers recovered:

  • 20 bags of trash
  • bags of recycling

Thank you to all of the volunteers, Boat Captains, and Site Captains who worked hard to make Lake Hickory better.

Special thanks goes to the Lake Hickory Planning Committee for organizing the Riversweep; Lake Hickory Marina for opening up the marina to our volunteers; and a special volunteer who hauled all the recycling to the convenience center after the Riversweep was over.

Mark you calendar for the next Lake Hickory Riversweep: Saturday, April 25, 2020.
