Our Slow Flow kayaking experience begins at the new kayak launch at McAdenville South Fork River Greenway, off of Lakeview Drive in downtown McAdenville.
Guests can park here at the McAdenville South Fork River Greenway or by the Cramerton Goat Island Access in downtown Cramerton (By the railroad tracks on the corner of North Main Street and Eighth Avenue, across from the town hall) and walk over to the launch (next to the Cramerton Fire Department) to meet the shuttle.
Shuttles run every hour on the half hour starting in Cramerton at 11:30 AM, and bring guests to the launch point or back to their cars.
Our staff will give an introduction and safety discussion before aiding guests into the water. From there, guests can complete the 60-90 minute self-guided trip down the South Fork of the Catawba River to Cramerton, enjoying scenic views and exciting wildlife along the way. This tour is perfect for beginners or families, as the lazy current allows for floating or light paddling.
This kayaking experience is the perfect way to observe flora and fauna along the South Fork of the Catawba River. If you’re lucky, you’ll see our mascot, the Great Blue Heron, on the hunt for a meal. Nearer to the banks, yellow-bellied sliders sunbathe on fallen limbs before gliding into the water for a dip. For those looking for a little shade on a sunny day, navigate through the overhanging foliage for an easy way to cool off.
Before you know it, you’ll find yourself in downtown Cramerton. Take some time to explore Goat Island Park, a short walk over the bridge. If you’re hungry after your trip, take a short walk to Doffer’s for a salad or sandwich, or to Mayworth’s Public House. For dessert, head over to Floyd & Blackie’s for a tasty treat! If you’ve got some time to kill, shop around at Sacred Corner for crystals and gems or EllaB & Co Boutique.
Rentals are available every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM and are walk-up. For $30, we include a kayak, paddle, Personal Flotation Device, safety instruction, and shuttle ride back to your car. Enjoy $5 off with a McAdenville or Cramerton ID.
Slow Flow rentals are walk-up only, reservations are not available.
