We had another awesome summer with the CREEK (Community Resources in Education, Engagement, and Kayaking) program this year!

Catawba Riverkeeper’s CREEK program is a multifaceted community outreach and partnership opportunity for youth living in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin.

CREEK seeks to build authentic relationships that empower individuals to be stakeholders in the protection of the river: her creeks, streams, and local lakes.

251 participants of this summer’s CREEK program were able to experience nature through hands-on learning. Groups went on nature hikes and learned how to do macroinvertebrate sampling. They also did activities and played games focused on water conservation and ecosystem preservation. Over half of the participants were able to get on the water and kayak with us!

Participating Partner Organizations:

Thank you sponsors & partners!

Special thanks to our sponsors and funders, who make this program free for all participants – Crescent Communities & the Blumenthal Foundation.

We also thank City Belmont Parks & Recreation for lending us park spaces this summer.
