Shuttle Driver

Position Title: Shuttle Driver (Seasonal/Part-time)
Accountability: Shuttle Drivers will report to the Engagement Manager

Responsibilities: Shuttle Drivers are responsible for transporting guests and equipment to various locations throughout the Riverkeeper’s kayak rental and guided program experiences. They are a public facing representative of the Riverkeeper to ensure safe transportation while educating guests about the mission of Catawba Riverkeeper.

Day to Day Duties:

  • Manage transportation of guests and equipment at times using a 15-passenger shuttle bus
  • Ensure the safety of the guests riding in the shuttle bus
  • Deliver timely shuttle schedule as set forth by the kayak standard operating procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service through welcoming and friendly communication about Catawba Riverkeeper, the guest’s program, and with basic information about the local area that guests can explore and enjoy
  • Responsible for ensuring safe use of the shuttle bus along with keeping the inside of the shuttle clean and tidy
  • Collaborate with the Kayak Manager on Duty to implement efficient operations
  • Maintain communication with the appropriate kayak operational staff like Kayak Techs and Kayak Guides to execute professional guest transportation and experience

Qualifications:

  • 25+ years of age
  • Clean driving record
  • Passionate about sharing the work and mission of the Catawba Riverkeeper organization to the community
  • Comfortable speaking to a wide range of people and customizing communication accordingly
  • Time management skills: committed to a two-week schedule notice and consistent attendance
  • Ability to maintain an organized and detailed workflow with changing variables
  • Ability to make quick and authoritative decisions and remain calm in potentially tense and/or chaotic situations
  • Comfortable working autonomously as well as working in a team environment

Requirements:

  • Mandatory 3-day staff training hosted in March, June or as hired that includes,
    • Detailed information about Catawba Riverkeeper
    • Group facilitation activities
    • Department and job specific training
    • Riverkeeper specific CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
    • Cost $40 for overall training program
  • Available to work weekends: shifts primarily occur on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Available to work seasonally: April through September
  • Ability to work in outdoor settings under various weather conditions
  • Must have reliable personal transportation
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds with frequency throughout the day
