2025 South Fork Rapid Eco-Tours are available on April 5 and April 6 at 9 AM and 2 PM.

Experience the thrill of Class 1 and 2 rapids as you paddle 5.5 miles through a beautiful section of the South Fork of the Catawba just 20 minutes from Charlotte! While paddling, you'll also learn about the South Fork River and the greater Catawba-Wateree River Basin, as well as Catawba Riverkeeper's current mission-critical work.

Location:

The South Fork Rapids Tour will meet at The Boathouse (115 Willow Drive, McAdenville, NC), take a shuttle to the Spencer Mountain Launch in Lowell, NC, paddle down the river, and then take-out back at the Boathouse.

Difficulty & Experience Level:

Though still welcoming for adventurous beginners, this is an intermediate tour that will teach participants about river navigation and water safety basics.

• Access to the Boathouse for changing and storage of personal belongings

What You Provide:

• Clothing and Shoes for on the water and something dry to change into at the end of the day (no bare feet or flip flops on the water)
• A Water Bottle and Snacks
• Sunscreen and Bug Spray
• A hat for sun protection and sunglasses with a strap attached
• A dry box or bag for your belongings or essential medications that could be needed incase of emergency
