Tracy Smith

Tracy Smith serves as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the collaboration between Catawba Riverkeeper and Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.


Tracy is responsible for providing long-term planning, integration, and management of key administrative functions, bringing the strategic and administrative activities under one leader, to further increase operational effectiveness for both Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and the Catawba Riverkeeper. She provides executive leadership of the key strategic functions of Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, Safety & security, Marketing, Project Management, Board relations, compliance, risk, policy, and general administration. She takes great pride in serving two highly functional, mission driven environmental non-profits.


Tracy received her undergraduate degree in liberal studies from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and a master’s degree in human resources from Western Carolina University. Prior to joining the Garden & Catawba Riverkeeper, she last served as the Director of Human Resources for the United Way of Greater Charlotte.  



Tracy is a resident of Gaston County, living in Belmont with her husband, Derek where they have raised their daughter, Georgia.
